Viraasat

Showcase the Indian legacy
 
India’s rich heritage – a mosaic of faiths, cultures, customs and languages – is best portrayed through its graceful nrittya, melodious ragas and melancholic instrumental renditions. This year SPIC MACAY – XIMB chapter brings to you a chance to showcase the Indian legacy through Virasaat, a confluence of various Indian performing arts. Virasaat is Xpressions’ 16 one and only classical competition with participants from all over India competing in three categories – Classical Dance, Classical Singing and Instrumentals. The stage of energy and exuberance beckons you. Come, be the enigma and let your mysteries unfold.

1. The event has three categories: singing, dancing and instrumental.
2. All three are solo performance events.
3. Only Classical performance allowed (No Bollywood songs allowed). Judge’s decision will be final in ruling whether the piece presented satisfies this criterion or not.
4. There will be one winner/span> in each category.
5. Maximum one entry per category per participant will be permitted.
6. Decision on prize-money is subject to the discretion of the organizing team of the event.
7. Judging will take place immediately after the competition finishing time. Thescoring and decisions made are at the discretion of the judges and their decision shall be final.

Singing


a. Each participant will get maximum of 6 minutes to perform. This time duration includes the time taken for the tuning of instruments etc.
b. Negative marks will be given if the participant fails to complete performance by the final bell.
c. One accompanist from the same college is allowed. Instruments shall not be provided by us.
Participants can also bring device for taal, i.e. a taalmala and swar i.e. a surpeti, sruthi box (electronic format e.g. .mp3 file of the same is allowed)
d. No karaoke allowed.
 

Dancing


a. Each participant will get maximum of 7 minutes to perform. This time duration includes the setup and clearance time.
b. Negative marks will be given if the participant fails to complete performance by the final bell.
c. Usage of props and production material is allowed. These have to be brought by the participant themselves.
d. The audio needs to be submitted to the person in-charge both in a pen-drive and CD format before the commencement of the event.
 

Instrumental


a. Each participant will get maximum of 6 minutes to perform on his or her instrument. This time duration includes the time taken for the tuning of instruments etc.
b. Negative marks will be given if the participant fails to complete performance by the final bell.
c. No vocalization allowed. Instruments shall not be provided by us.
d. Participants can bring device for taal, i.e. a taalmala and swar i.e. a surpeti, sruthi box (electronic format e.g. .mp3 file of the same is allowed)
