CATEGORY : GROUP DANCE


• Team Size: Minimum-5, Maximum-15, excluding team assistance.
• The teams MUST register on https://www.ximbxpressions.com/. The details regarding the registration for the event are available on the above-mentioned website.
• For the Preliminary round, each and every team is required to submit a dance video of minimum 3 minutes at the time of the registration to culturalcomm@ximb.ac.in. This video will form the basis on which the teams will be selected for the finals.
• Last date for REGISTRATION: 27th October, 2019
Last date for submitting DANCE VIDEO: 30th October, 2019
Result declaration for Preliminary round: 1st November, 2019
• Out of all the registered teams, 8 teams will qualify for the finals which is to be held at XIMB on ________
• The Finale consists of 3 rounds:
First: It will be a no-holds barred round in which top 3 teams will be selected for the second round.
Second: A theme based round, theme will be provided at the time of declaration of the top 8 teams.
Third (Optional): A dance face-off between the teams, which will take place in case of a tie.
• For the face-off round, the teams which will have a tie have to choose one person from their team for the face-off battle.
• The face-off round will be of 3 minutes, wherein each participant will perform individually for 1 minute and then both will perform together for 1 minute. The track for the same will be given by us on the spot.
• Eligible to all Colleges, not just Engineering.
• Professional dance groups are NOT allowed.
• All participants must be students of the college.
• TIME LIMIT: From entering till exiting the stage- 15 Minutes for both rounds.

CATEGORY : SOLO DANCE


• The participants MUST register on https://www.ximbxpressions.com/. The details regarding the registration for the event are available on the above-mentioned website.
• The dance form allowed for this category is only Western (Not classical/semi-classical or folk dance)
• For the Preliminary round, each and every participant is required to submit a dance video of minimum 3 minutes at the time of the registration to culturalcomm@ximb.ac.in. This video will form the basis on which the participants will be selected for the finals.
• Last date for REGISTRATION: 27th October, 2019
Last date for submitting DANCE VIDEO: 30th October, 2019
Result declaration for Preliminary round: 1st November, 2019
• Out of all the registered participants, Top 5 will qualify for the finals which is to be held at XIMB on ________
• The Finale consists of only 1 round: The participants can perform any dance of their choice except the dance showcased in their video submission.

ADDITIONAL RULES:

· The teams/participants can use maximum of 4 dance forms.
• The combination of dance forms must be unique and innovative one.
• If the team/participant requires any kind of props, it must be arranged by the team/participant themselves, and the college holds the discretionary power to allow the props on stage or not.
• Pre-recorded (Final music to be used at the time of performance) music must be uploaded on the google drive, the link to which will be provided by the college to the top 8 selected teams/participants along with other details.
• In case of any disputes or conflict of interest, the decision of the organizing committee will be final and binding.
• Teams must get their own Master of Ceremony and team assistants for the event, if required.
• Obscenity of any kind will lead to immediate disqualification by the organizing committee.
• Inflammable and liquid items are NOT allowed on stage.
• Any props which damage stage in any way will attract negative points.
• Judges decision shall be final and binding for all participating teams.

Fashion is an art, a religion, a peek into one’s personality! Ultimately, fashion is a statement of expression for each of us and CARNIVAL DE VOGUE is the right avenue for it. As this competition celebrates beauty, glamour and grace, we welcome all of you fashion lovers to strive for the zenith of innovative and unique designs and formations. Xpressions’19 brings to you an evening full of classic fashion and glamour. Come, be a treat for the eyes of the audience and the paparazzi!

Teams will have to send a short video of their ramp walk in costumes to culturalcomm@ximb.ac.in. The selection for the next round will be based on this Online Video Elimination round. (Past performance videos are also allowed)

⮚ROUND 2: XIMB Ground
Teams have to perform (walk) on the theme provided by the organizers on a well-versed choreography accompanied by a pre-recorded track within the given time limit.


Theme: Time Period

Clothes inspired during the 60s, 70s, 80s and even the 90s make a comeback to revive history and what the world has seen. For example-Polka dots may be very 80s but they continue to rival any creation even today. These themes are fun, nostalgic and introduce popular clothes, dresses and props of the yesteryears in a modern context.

Time Limit:

15 minutes (including set up and clearance time)
⮚ ROUND 3: XIMB Ground
One couple (1 male and 1 female) from each team will be selected by the team.

Theme: Colors of Life:

Dresses depicting moods of human beings right from being angry to being happy, being sad to being jovial, love and hate, and many more. Costumes can be accompanied with props and accessories accentuating the theme.

Time Limit:

3 minutes (including set up and clearance time)

Rules:

⮚ Only one team is allowed to participate per college. Food and accommodation will be provided to the members of the outstation teams only.
⮚ It is imperative that all team members carry their college ID cards and must present them during the time of registration at the campus.
⮚ A penalty will be imposed for violating the prescribed time limit.
⮚ Usage of props is allowed. These are to be brought by the teams themselves. The organizers hold the discretion to allow the prop on stage.
⮚ Teams are requested to submit the prop list 2 hrs prior to the competition. The organizers shall not bear any responsibility in case of loss or damage of prop materials.
⮚ Pre-recorded music or track shall be brought in a pen drive in .mp3 format only (as other formats may not be supported on the computer – use them at your own risk). This needs to be submitted to the organizers 2 hrs prior to the event.
⮚ Light and sound requirements must be informed to the organizers 2 hrs prior to the event.
⮚ Vulgarity of any kind is not allowed and will subject the participating team to disqualification. Hence, if the team feels that any stunt or costume design can be considered as vulgar, it is strongly advised to consult the organizers before performing it on stage. The decision of the organizers will be final in case of any disputes arising due to this.
⮚ Performers have to clear the stage after their performance otherwise the organizers will penalize them heavily.
⮚ Any kind of fluid, powder, flame or heavy object is not allowed on stage
⮚ The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
⮚ Results of Round 3 are exclusive of Round 2
⮚ In case of any disputes, the organizing committee reserves the right to deliberate and take the final call.

Remember the first time you went to a show and saw your favorite band. You wore their shirt, and sang every word. You didn't know anything about scene politics, haircuts, or what was cool. All you knew was that this music made you feel different from everyone. Someone finally understood you. This is what music is about. With that feeling, get ready to battle out for the title of Best Band of Xpressions, 2019.

Quality of vocals, Quality of instrumental music, Tightness, Synchronization, Stage presence, Audience Interaction, Choice of song and Overall performance as a band.

Time limit:

25 minutes (Inclusive of sound check)
Rules: • Bands will be required to get their own guitars, processors, adaptors cords, etc. Only a standard drum set kit (single bass pedal) will be provided. They must bring their own sticks and pedals if they need them.
• At least 1 vocalist and at least 3 different instruments required (one percussion instrument compulsory and multiple guitars counted individually)
• Bands can perform any song(s) of their choice, cover or an original composition.
• External Sync (Laptop, tablet, iPod, MIDI etc.) are not allowed during the performance.
· Time limit should be strictly followed. Participants will be penalized by judges for not doing so.
• The decision of the organizers with respect to line-up would be final.
• The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
• Vulgarity and obscenity at any point are strictly not allowed. It can lead to immediate disqualification
• Any damage done to the college property shall be the responsibility of the concerned band and its members.
• Each competing band will receive complimentary tickets to gain awareness and build their fan-base for the show.
• All competing bands are strongly encouraged to promote spreading the word regarding the Battle of Bands event and related festivities as crowd interaction and response will be a part of the judging criteria.

The stage is set to be dazzled by the melodies of musical wizards. Goonj, the scintillating solo singing competition of Xpressions’19, invites you all to unleash the singer within you. From the gravitas of a Ghazal to the rapture of Rock ‘n’ Roll, from the Indian Intensity to the western Wackiness, show us what you’ve got and take the stage by storm. Prove your mettle among the best.

Rules:

EVENT FORMAT :

Goonj shall consist of 3 rounds: Online screening, Prelims and Finals.
Participants can register in two categories:
• Desi Xtravaganza (Indian songs)
• Western Xtravaganza (English songs).

DATES:

27th October EOD : Last date for registration
30th October EOD : Last date to send audio/video for online prelims
1st November : Result of online prelims
9th November : Prelims (On-campus)
9th November : Finals (On-campus)

RULES (Prelims):

• Participants need to send their audio/video, not longer than 3 minutes, to culturalcomm@ximb.ac.in for online screening. The participants will be evaluated upon the audio/video. The qualified participants will go to the prelims.
• For prelims, each participant will be required to sing ONLY ONE song for 3 minutes.
• The participant has an option of using an instrument to complement his/her song. He/she can himself/herself play the instrument while singing or can be accompanied by someone on the instrument.
(Note: Usage of Instrument is optional however it is participant’s responsibility to make their own arrangement for their instrument as instruments will not be provided by us. No brownie points will be awarded for the instrument.)
• There will be a clear demarcation between the vocalists participating for Desi Xtravaganza and Western Xtravaganza.
• No Karaoke will be allowed in the prelims.
• Vocalists in both categories can sing any cover or original song composed by them.
• Original compositions are welcomed but that does not guarantee brownie points. It will solely depend on the performance.
• Participants applying for both categories will have to give two separate performances.
• The prelims will be held off stage.
• This round will be an elimination round. Participants qualifying in the Prelims will compete in the Finals.

RULES (Finals) :

• 10 participants will be ideally shortlisted from both the categories, i.e., Desi Xtravaganza and Western Xtravaganza. The number may change depending upon the participation in all the categories.
• Each participant will be given 5 minutes for a song in each of the two categories. Exceeding the time-limit will result in penalty in the points awarded.
• Participants qualifying in both categories will have to give two separate performances
• The participant has an option of using an instrument to complement his/her song. He/she can himself/herself play the instrument while singing or can be accompanied by someone on the instrument.
(Note: Usage of Instrument is optional however it is participant’s responsibility to make their own arrangement for their instrument as instruments will not be provided by us. No brownie points will be awarded for the instrument.)
• Participants can use Karaoke for this round.

General Rules

Teams need to register at http://www.ximbxpressions.com/ to receive a unique Xpressions ID via email on the registered mail address. This Xpressions ID can be used to register for the event
Having an Xpressions ID is mandatory to participate in any of the events conducted during Xpressions ‘19
For Informal and Special Events, only the team captain needs to have an Xpressions ID
Each team will have to send a sample video of their performance (sample performance can be any previous act done by the team) based on which team will be selected for final round
It is imperative that all team members carry their college ID cards and must present them during the time of registration at the campus.
No props and costumes will be provided by XIMB (or Xpressions team). Teams have to carry their own costumes and props.
Respective teams have to take care of their props and costumes, organizers will not be responsible for any damage or losses
No props or costumes should be left behind in the arena or damage the arena, it will attract negative points.
Any kind of fluid, flame, glitters, or any material which have the possibility of tampering/damaging the stage is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
A room would be provided for changing costumes, both before and after the acts.
Vulgarity of any kind would lead to disqualification of the team from the event. Hence, if the team feels that their planned enactment can be deemed as vulgar by the jury or audience, it is advisable to consult the organizers before performing it directly on the stage.
Decision of the judges will be final and binding.
Participants who will be travelling from outside Bhubaneswar will be provided accommodation, subject to the fact that they already ask for it beforehand. No requests for on - the - spot - accommodation will be entertained.

Paint@XIMB is a prestigious painting competition designed to help you unleash your creative potential and showcase your talent. Come paint what’s on your mind and portray life through the tainted glass of your creativity. The theme is brilliantly simple: "Anything which you can draw best". This is your chance to compete with some of the best creative minds and prove your passion.

Rules

1. This contest is open to all. Artists will be divided into 2 Categories: Senior: Open for artists belonging to Class 10 and above
Junior: Open for artists below Class 10
2. You can draw anything in physical media (no digital paintings) irrespective of painting, drawing, sketching, colour or black & white.
3. You are required to carry all the materials required by you to complete your painting, namely, paint brushes, oil colors, water colors, acrylic paints, pastels, pencils, etc.
4. Drawing sheets will be provided by us. Only 1 drawing sheet per artist is allowed.

Short Compelling Description:

What do you see in a mirror? Also known as, pratichhaya or pratibimb - it has numerous names; call it anything, our reflection never leaves us. In it we see our innate desires, hopes, unfulfilled dreams, inner demons, burdened soul or maybe at times a free spirit. There’s a face behind each face, it could be uglier or even more beautiful than the mask one dons. It seeks to be let out. It wants to be seen. What better than painting that idea on a face?
Presenting “Pratibimb” – the face painting competition where participants get to paint their imagination on their subjects’ faces unleashing their artistic spirits.

Rules

1. This is a face painting competition.
2. The artist will have to carry their own paints and paint brushes. Costumes, wigs, accessories, gemstones, glitter, feathers, silicon or prosthetics are NOT allowed.
3. Participation will be in the form of teams, each consisting of only 2 people – The artist and the model (whose face would be painted). Both of them should be from the same institute.
4. Each team will get a maximum of an hour to paint.
5. There will be only 1 winning team and 1 runners-up team.
6. Each team will get 30 seconds to explain their concept to the judges.
7. Judging will take place immediately after the competition gets over. The scoring and decisions made are at the discretion of the judges and their decision shall be final.

Deadlines:

1. Register for Xpressions and apply for the event.
2. On spot registrations also allowed if total registrations for the event doesn’t cross the cut off for the total participants that we can accommodate for the event.
